Shirasagi no Mai (Dance of the Egrets)

Shirasagi-no-mai

Shirasagi no Mai is a dance performed two times per year at Sensō-ji Temple, started in 1968 to commemorate the 100th anniversary of Tokyo city.
The performer wears a Egret (=Shirasagi) inspired design dress and performs a beautiful dance, which the origin came from a scroll of the Keian era (1652), the “Sensō-ji Keian Engi scroll”

Schedule : 8th of April, 3rd of November, every year
Place : Sensō-ji Temple
