The Sumida River Fireworks is one of the most famous fireworks festivals in Japan. The Festival organizes also a Firework Contest where the best firework craftsman competes and confront their traditional building technique inherited from the Edo era.
This Festival is held in July every year from the first edition, back in 1733. Fireworks are launched from 2 differents locations along the Sumida River. The fireworks contest is held in the 1st venue of the Festival and the Fireworks Show in the 2nd. A total of 20,000 fireworks will illuminate the Tokyo’s sky during this night.
